Acupuncture for pregnancy care.

Acupuncture and Pregnancy

Support in every trimester

Acupuncture supports a healthy pregnancy through each trimester. It improves common pregnancy symptoms like nausea, headaches, heartburn, sciatica, and more.

Breech baby

Acupuncture and moxibustion have been shown to improve fetal positioning — gently helping baby to settle into the desired head-down position for a smooth labor and delivery.

Labor preparation

Acupuncture supports natural labor by relaxing the mind, regulating the nervous system, and improving blood flow. It has been shown to gently ripen the cervix and encourage fetal movement.

Pregnancy Care

Pregnancy is a time of profound change. As the body stretches and the mind adapts, a new life is nurtured—and a woman becomes a mother. Chinese medicine supports this journey for both baby and mother, tending to body and mind in this sacred time of transition.

Breech baby

A breech baby is positioned feet- or bottom-first rather than head-down. Starting in the second trimester, acupuncture and moxibustion can help encourage optimal fetal positioning. Moxibustion (艾灸) uses gently heated herbal sticks—typically made from mugwort—to stimulate specific acupuncture points, improving circulation and encouraging the body’s natural movement. Needles are placed while you’re comfortably supported, followed by quiet rest. Care is gentle, thoughtful, and rooted in the body’s innate wisdom, supporting both mother and baby.

Labor preparation

Labor prep acupuncture supports the body’s natural readiness for birth. Gentle needling helps ripen the cervix, improve blood flow, and relax the mind, allowing the body’s innate wisdom to guide labor. Care is about easing tension and getting out of the way, rather than forcing progress, so mother and baby can move into birth with calm, balance, and ease.

Modern studies show acupuncture results in:

  • reduced pain during labor

  • shorter labor time

  • less need for medical intervention including pharmaceuticals for pain management

  • natural cervical ripening
